Academy Awards- Least Favorites

Here are the looks I was not so sure about....

Amy Adams
I loved her dress, hair and make up. Actually, I thought the dress was stunning. But the necklace with the dress left a bad taste in my mouth, and it made me dislike the look unfortunately.

Scarlett Johansson
I love the dress, but the make up looks awful...and the bob is cute but I just don't like it with that dress.

Jennifer Hudson
YIKES! The orange looks stunning on her, but what's up with her boobs? They look like they're flappy and she just pushed them up. Not a good look.

Academy Awards-Favorites

I decided I'm going to pick out some of my favorites and least favorites from the 2011 Academy Awards. My choices are my own opinions and you may or may not agree with them, and that's ok!
Sorry it's formatted so weird! My apologies.

My favorites:

Anne Hathaway
WOW. Probably my favorite overall. She's my style icon(although I never dress up) and she always looks stunning.

Reese Witherspoon
I'm loving the sexy '60s vibe. It reminds me of Walk the Line and suits her so well.

Jennifer Lawrence
Her dress is my favorite color, first and foremost(so of course she was going to be a favorite) but I love the simplicity of her whole look. Her body looks amazing.

Mila Kunis
She just looks so gorgeous, sexy but ethereal. And the lilac color looks great with her dark hair.

Some Good Sales!

So this is going to be more of a 'haul' type of post which I am usually not interested in, but I figured I've tried almost everything and I'll do a small review with the items.

First I'll start with the things that weren't such great sales. MAC Dainty Mineralize Blush. I have no idea how much this is(although I could just look on the MAC website) because I got it probably three weeks ago. It's a beautiful color, for almost any skin tone. I really can't give a great review because I have only used it a handful of times and to me, it gives either too much or too little pigmentation and no nice sheen. In the picture, you'll notice the absurd amount of fallout.

Next is my Philosophy Purity Cleanser. And to be honest, I'm not sure what to say about this either. It was $10 for the tiny bottle, and it does nothing for my skin. It doesn't even feel super clean afterward....just kind of like I washed my face a few hours ago. I know I'm not in the majority on this but if you have acne or skin problems this doesn't seem like a great cleanser.

Onto the steals of the moment! First is the coveted wet N wild Comfort Zone 8 pan palette. I have been searching for this since I first heard about it, even before I saw it! It is gorgeous! I'm sure you've heard about it numerous times before, but it really is intensely pigmented and the colors are gorgeous, almost too pigmented. Can you believe that?! AND on top of all that...it's cheaper at Wal Mart. It was $4.99 at drugstores but around $4.60(not a big difference, I know) at Wal Mart. My personal favorite color is the lightest, shimmering cream in the top left corner.

I'm not much of a nail polish lover, mostly because I bite my nails and never have the time to paint them, but Revlon Minted is beautiful. Weirdly enough, it's more of a "Tiffany blue" color on me then China Glaze For Audrey. It has a creamy consistancy and wears pretty nicely. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it on my fingers, but I can assure you it's amazing!

The last thing, which I did not picture due to laziness, is the Alcohol Free Stridex Sensitive Pads with Aloe. It has .5% salicylic acid acne medication and, of course, it happens to be alcohol free. To me, that's the selling point. I no longer can take using these 'acne pads' as I call them, with alcohol. They burn and irritate my skin and honestly, feel gross. These are completely different. These moisturize and feel nice and soothing. I'd recommend these to anyone, especially since they're only about $3.50.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Any questions, requests, etc. please email me here.

Everyday Minerals Try Me Samples

So awhile back...probably a good two weeks I ordered 7 or 8 'Try Me' sized samples from Everyday Minerals. Lately I've been into powder foundations and wanted a new one(or new ones..yikes) to love and wear just as a corrector.
I got the free 'Try Me Kit' which comes with 4 or 5 colors in the different shades. However, I am not positive exactly what it comes with because I received 4, but on the site it says 5. I also ordered 2 or 3 extra samples. I am not positive about the number of samples I ordered due to losing the packing slip. I think ordered 7 total and wound up with 8. I also ordered a lucent powder so in total, I wound up with 9 samples. The samples shown are not all of the samples I received.
So back to the first impression. I have tried the Original Glo, Semi-Matte, Matte and Intensive Bases. I also have pictures. I have tried them between one and three times each and have some interesting comments on which I like and dislike. Please keep in mind I have oily skin that I usually like to keep hydrated and have a luminous finish.

First I'll start out with the Intensive Base that I was most excited about. It's described as "Perfectly matte with extra coverage for normal-oily skin types." I thought this would be AMAZING for when I had break outs or was extra oily. However, it feels awful on my skin. It is heavy and yes, does cover well, but it's way too much. It feels like a bad liquid foundation, to be honest. You know, that cakey feeling that won't end regardless of how much powder, blot powder, blot pads, etc you wipe your face with. I'll keep trying it with different ways of applying it but I don't think it'll change.

Next up is the Matte Base which I thought would be decent. I am not a fan of matte foundations but I thought I might be ok with this one since it's a powder. It is described as "Naturally matte, buildable coverage. Full coverage, all skin types, shine free." That's basically what this is. I really enjoy it. It's not heavy like the Intensive base. It does have good coverage but on my worst acne days I don't think it'll cover everything.

Third is the Original Glo Base. The website says it's "Luminous with light reflecting minerals. Medium to full coverage normal to dry skin types." Ummm...not quite there Everyday Minerals! It's basically a sheer, no coverage, greasy loose powder. I don't even know why it feels so bad on my face. It's not luminizing, it's basically just a sheer powder that wears off quite easily. On dry skin types that only need very slight correction, this may be great. I'd stay away if you have oily or combination skin.

Last of all, is the Semi-Matte Base. Described as "Moisturizing silk to satin finish full coverage, all skin types." I do agree, I think any skin type would work well with this foundation, unless you do not like a satin finish. This is what I thought the Original Glo Base would be. It's a satin finish if you apply it with a heavier hand, but  with a light application it's quite luminous and beautiful. It never felt heavy. It feels great.

As far as the lucent powder I purchased(called Viki's Radiant Creation) it's ok. I use it as a blush rather than a face powder. The color is decent, but it's too sparkly as far as I'm concerned.
I also wanted to mention that none of these foundations or the powder are milled finely. They aren't chunky, but it's not quite BareMinerals.

Overall, I will be purchasing, at some point, the Semi-Matte Base and the Matte Base. These are great foundations at least to try out. The website has more to offer than just foundations and face powders, as well. It's listed below as well as my YouTube channel.

I paid for all products on my blog and my YouTube channel unless given by a friend or relative.

A Tutorial?

I think I am going to do a great new tutorial soon! I think it's perfect for Valentines if you want a subtle, sexy look...but I also think it's great for this transition phase of deep, dark winter into beautiful springtime. Plus it's inspired by an amazingly beautiful singer Keri Hilson. I based my look primarily off the look from her 'Pretty Girl Rock' music video. I am going to post a picture, but first, I'd like to mention the photo I post of hers is not my image, I am just posting a screencap.
Obviously, our looks are going to be different. We have different hair color, skin tone/color, and eye color. But my whole look is inspired by this one. She is flawless!

Also the way I get my lips to be similar to the color she is wearing is a nice little tip, I think.

I hope you watch this tutorial coming soon! For now, check my YouTube here for other videos.
